From the recording Shame
“Hypocrites” confronts moral hypocrisy as public performance: professing values that conceal contrary motives and conduct. Crushing rhythms and abrasive textures expose the split between respectability and self-interest, while repeated patterns evoke Sartrean bad faith—the refusal to recognise one’s responsibility. The track directs its anger at appearances used to excuse complicity, exploitation, and cowardice.
