Bio
Music Production
Sebastian Essene, a Nottingham-based music producer and experimental DJ, creates spiritually oriented electronic music deeply rooted in esoteric, mystical, and occult traditions. His work draws inspiration from the worlds of surrealism, transcendental philosophy, and metaphysical exploration, resulting in a unique blend of sound and spirit. His compositions, often ambient and experimental, reflect an eclectic approach to sound, weaving together spiritual exploration with avant-garde musical structures.
Sebastian’s DJing focuses on creating the atmosphere of a sacred, ethereal space—evoking the void, a sense of depth, longing, and nostalgia for the ineffable. His music conjures immersive soundscapes that blend the mystical with the modern, guiding his audience through a ritualistic experience of sound and spirit.
DJ Sets
Sebastian’s DJing is atmospheric, textural, and exploratory, moving between ambient electronics, experimental sound design, field recordings, modular synthesis, and deeper club-oriented forms. His sets are shaped less by genre boundaries than by mood, space, memory, and emotional progression.
Rather than treating DJing as simple selection, Sebastian approaches each set as a carefully paced sound environment: immersive, minimal, and contemplative, while still rooted in the physical presence of rhythm, volume, and shared listening. He is especially interested in the point where experimental sound becomes accessible, and where subtle shifts in texture can change the feeling of a room. Whether in a focused listening setting or a more rhythmic environment, his aim is to create space for attention, atmosphere, and connection.
Beyond the Music
Sebastian has a long-standing interest in psychology, comparative religion, esotericism, and the symbolic life of the human person. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Counselling, diplomas in Pastoral and Clinical Counselling and in Logotherapy and Existential Analysis, and is currently undertaking a master’s degree in Interreligious Dialogue: Science, Philosophy and Theology of Religions.
Sebastian enjoys reading, film, long walks, coffee, and quiet time away from noise. He is drawn to work that combines seriousness with simplicity, and values ordinary human presence as much as symbolic or spiritual depth.
