From the recording The Quest for Truth
“Dark Night of the Soul” draws on St John of the Cross’s account of passive spiritual purification. Shadowed tones and slow, aching textures represent the loss of sensory consolation, familiar beliefs, and the soul’s former ways of approaching God. This darkness is not divine abandonment, but contemplation experienced as absence because it exceeds understanding. The track moves through the nights of sense and spirit toward detachment, transformation, and eventual union with God.
